I recently discovered Le Labo fragrances and to put it simply, I am utterly enchanted. My scent of choice is Santal 33 and if there is anything I can say to describe it is that it smells how I feel I should always have been smelling, and there is no exaggeration in saying that I feel naked without it.

Selected botanical and herb ingredients are used in order to hand manufacture each fragrance and Le Labo goes even further in customizing your order as to make it a truly unique experience. Your name is printed directly in the package and the bottle  (along with hand written notes, I leave it for you to discover should you get one), and I honestly feel like this fragrance was designed for me every time I pick it up to use it, from the scent to the design and the care of packaging. Simple and understated, the design of the bottles pay a nod to minimalism, and underline the whole attitude of the brand. Authentic hand crafted perfumes, honest in their delivery and completely captivating as a result. It should come as no surprise that Le Labo stands strongly against animal cruelty and against anything that compromises freedom and creation. While I think Santal 33 will be my favorite perfume ( we are a perfect match ) I am looking forward to trying more from Le Labo, I get the feeling I will be pleasantly surprised. For now my next purchase will include some of their body range for Santal 33 and some candles because I love my home as much as I love me 🙂

Walk in Closet Update

February 16, 2015

I have been trying to finish my walk in closet for a while now and while my clothes are literally lying on heaps on the floor on top of each other (or in suitcases) I still can’t find time to paint the last parts of the room and shop for it. I get consumed in short term projects or just having fun (like learning how to ski) and my time just flies away.

I am determined that I will have finished this by the beginning of March however. I can’t wait to be able to organize all my clothes and my make up in one place. Right now in one of the corners I keep all my everyday basics while on the other side where the window is (photo below), the corner serves as temporary storage place for miscellaneous objects or whatever I happen to have on my hands at the moment. Not very much interior design worthy but I find the monochrome tone very soothing. I am going to be shopping in IKEA for this project and I think the result will be great!

I think you can see that I have an ongoing obsession with Dior cosmetics lately. That is not to say that my whole make up kit is full of Dior but some key pieces I will almost never change. Dior Iconic mascara and Dior addict lip glow are on top of my list. Especially the Lip balm lipstick is probably the best I have every tried. In Norway it can get really cold and lips are always so sensitive to low temperatures. The Lip glow balm will stay in my lips for hours after application and it will protect my lips without feeling I am wearing anything more than a light non sticky balm. I cannot recommend  this product enough.

Plans and Plants

January 22, 2015

A few days ago I was pondering on pots and paper bags to fit to my new plants.

I happened to stumble upon the most beautiful ficus tree and I am so in love with it that I have to have it on plain view wherever I go in the house. Thus the baby ficus keeps moving every few hours.

I am reading however that they don’t like moving as much and so I will have to find the perfect permanent spot for it soon. Also I have noticed its leaves keep falling and I m not sure if it is normal for it to shed that many. A quick google search revealed it might need more water or on the other hand I might be watering it too much. I will try either way and see and hope it will survive the experimentation. When it comes to its pot, I decided on yet another Uashmama paper bag this time in grey. I absolutely love these washable bags and their versatility. Even if I get tired of using it as a pot it is only a quick wash away before it can be reused to my imaginations desire.

If you are wondering where this messy shelf is in my house, well it is in the walk in closet. I have wanted to finish this project for a while but with all the travelling to Greece I have been unable to. However the plans for this month are to finish painting downstairs, throw or sell anything we might not need anymore and finish the closet, the quest bedroom and…surprise! Our very own little private gym. This has me more excited than anything else. Finally the mattresses, Pilates equipment , weights and treadmill will find their home. And we won’t have to store them after use everyday! Complete quality of life change. All is well in the world 🙂

Painting Day, First Coat.

August 14, 2014

We finally started painting our small spare bedroom. I am beyond thrilled that we are soon converting it into a walk in closet. It’s perfect since it’s next door to our own while the second (and much larger) spare (soon to be quest) bedroom is on the other side. The first coat of white is up and it already looks great! I love the morning light that comes through and the fact that this side of the room almost never sees the sun. I will never have to worry about direct sunlight hitting the clothes!

How beautiful is the morning light in this room? The grey casting shadows are just lovely, I can hardly wait for this room to be finished! All the photos today are completely unedited other than re sizing since I didn’t think there was anything I could have done to make it look better than it was in reality.

Have a great day!
