Pholc Mobil

A few weeks ago I introduced you to Pholc  ( find the blogpost here ), a relatively new brand in Sweden that has made quite a lot of waves. A favorite design of mine, the Mobil series which includes the beautiful five arms pendant that everyone loves that hangs in my bedroom .  In the same series there are a pendant with 3 arms, 2 wall versions ( a tall and a short one) and a table version. The now very recognisable design with the curve wall tall version called Mobil 150 Wall can be seen in my home office space, right next to the beautiful big window. Scroll down and you will see how the shape changes depending of the angle you look at it, the signature curve can be seen so easily on the side, while if you look at it up front it looks completely straight!

The designer created the series having in mind that they should easily adorn a New York loft, and while tall ceilings a big windows accentuate the design itself, I can still see it in a shorter height home, even a country house. For me this is where a design goes from just trending, to becoming a classic, when you can see it fitting just as well in a contemporary loft to a classic country house.

Oh , and a piece of advice? Hide all the wires behind a poster on the foot of any lamp, as you see , this is exactly my solution here as well.

Fredericia : Trinidad – An Icon for Living

June 20, 2018

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nanna Ditzel’s iconic Trinidad chair, Fredericia relaunched the iconic chair in a selection of new shades, enhancing the natural beauty of the materials in a contemporary manner.

Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) is one of the most significant figures of Danish design heritage. She is best known for her uncompromising approach to quality, playful shapes and a magnificent ability to transform her artistic dreams into very functional and sophisticated designs. With Trinidad, Nanna Ditzel turned the modernist mantra of material reduction against its original intent. The cut-out fretwork of the curved shells not only lightens the visual density of the chair, but it also functions as a decorative element. Inspired by her travels, Nanna Ditzel designed the Trinidad chair combining signature detailing with effortless elegance, while always aiming for great comfort and a sleek appearance. Nanna, on the inspiration behind the design said :

“On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?”

Like a Gingerbread facade, the Trinidad Chair gently plays with the sunlight, creating a sense of motion in the space. The lightweight design embraces the body and is designed to suit not only the setting, but also the person that sits on it. The precise transparency of the Trinidad chair almost dissolves in a play of light and shadow, yet at the same time gives the chair a strikingly bold voice. The new editions are available in smoked, grey and light grey oak leaving the veneer with a visible wooden structure.

Inspired by the design I am also trying to use the chair accordingly. While its elegance stands out in both light and shadow, I am trying to place it in my space in a way that the light will always pass through it various times of the day thus creating a playful pattern on the floor. I also chose one of the new colours, light grey oak with black legs, so it fits my tone on tone styling in the bedroom/home office, although an all black would have looked great as well! Scroll down for more photos of the beautiful Trinidad chair, how do you like it in my space?

Sundays Office

May 20, 2018

I came back to Oslo yesterday night and today I spend either on the balcony or right here, trying to catch up with everything work related. And as always, being the great blogger that I am, it took me all day to decide if I was even making a blogpost today, which I am at 23:45. Makes you wonder why I just dont post it tomorrow? Well there is this nagging feeling that I really need to be posting more, even though editorial quality content is hard to make in everyday basis, but then again..not everyday needs to be editorial right? So I hope you will forgive the occasional rumblings like this one, the one photo posts like this one (but a very real one, as what you dont see is me on the edge of the sofa with my macbook), the “I really have so much to say but I just dont have the time to write the words” like this one. I will gather my thoughts and most definitely come back with a clearer mind and more comprehensive posts, but for today, some people have said things better than me, if you find something interesting, do click on!

  1.  GDPR & What It Means For Bloggers, whether you are in EU or not, here are some short and easy guidelines for the new rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (especially if you have newsletter etc)
  2. 4 Things bloggers need to know for the industry to survive , including oversaturation of ads on social media and how this is detrimental for bloggers.
  3. A letter from Holly , I dont agree with everything in this letter from Holly but she does ask some of the right questions, are bloggers truthful with their advertising, as a blogger do you still connect with your fellow bloggers like before, and more.
  4. Frida from Trendenser is wondering if she is lost in her vision and where her blog is going (something I have been wondering a lot as well). Turn auto translation on, its in Swedish but worth a read!

Aesop Deodorant love

May 14, 2018

A few weeks ago I received the newsletter about the new Aesop Deodorant, and as all new Aesop things go, I was really curious to try it. The smell is very familiar , most Aesop scents have a relaxed friendliness aura, you know what I mean if you have ever visited one of the stores. Whether you want to smell like Aesop in your armpits that is up to you, I have been using it so much however that I now need a new bottle. In the photo above you can also see some of my favorites from Aesop when it comes to everyday use. The Lucent Facial concentrate, helps even and brighten skin tone. Thanks to Vitamin C that helps reduce pigmentation, and niacinamide that fights age spots and unifies skin tone, you can expect a brighter skin tone and smoother texture with regular use. A smoother texture will ensure light bounces off your skin evenly to give it that natural, healthy glow. Just pop into an Aesop store and ask for a sample they will be happy to demonstrate and give you a few days of worth of samples too, it will change your skin, I personally love it. Another favorite of mine, the Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm ( sitting on the marble grey plate ), although it is supposed to be for the body I mostly use it for my hands. They are part of the body right? It absorbs quickly and moisturizes thoroughly while the texture of this balm is thick, but when applied to the skin it soothes without leaving a greasy finish. It also smells absolutely amazing, the scent profile is Tangerine Rind, Vanille and Sandalwood The aromatic oils are very soothing, and also penetrate deeply to relax the muscles. Use it for your feet, calves, just try it before bed and you will thank me 😉
