My apartment in Oslo full tour : Up for sale

April 9, 2018

Last few days I have been styling and photographing the apartment I am renting, and today I can finally share it as well! I have been very lucky to find this beautiful classic in the middle of Grünerløkka when I moved to Oslo last summer, with its beautiful layout and details, the original floors painted grey, stuccos and vintage stove.  The bathroom was completely renovated as well while the location of the apartment itself is perfect. Right next to Mathallen and a few meters away from Akerselva river, in the middle of Oslo. The apartment is located in the middle building of the city square and it is surrounded by a beautiful yard, full of trees and abundant space for summer strolls and dinners. Tim Wendelboe cafe is in the same city square as well, I can walk through my backyard in the morning for one of the best coffees in the city.

Scroll down for a more complete look of my apartment, but also, if you want to see more photos in higher resolution , feel free to visit my dropbox folder .

Although I spend quite a few months here, it took me a while before I painted everything the way I wanted. Call me a little bit slow, when it comes to another styling I make snap decisions, when it comes to my own space I move in turtle time. I did however manage finally make color decisions and I ended up redecorating the bedroom not a long time ago ( see before and after here ), while just a week ago I finished up the look in the kitchen and living room. Although I was planning on painting with Lady Minerals in the living room, due to time pressure I decided to instead use Lady Pure Supermatt colors since they are quicker to paint with ( they don’t require any special technique ) , while at the same time they give a timeless effect due to their supermat finish. The solution I ended up with was painting the wooden wall from its natural color to LADY 5455 Industrial Blue Supreme finish for wood and panels, while I kept the rest of the room simple and sleek painting in LADY 9918 Klassisk Hvit Pure color supermatt for walls. I love how my simple TV (and quite an old one) is now blending with the wall , while at the same time the beautiful blue is giving a feeling of luxury, win win!

For my styling I mostly used my own furniture and props, but some details I really feel added a lot of depth in my interpretation of “Modern living in an 1890s apartment”. The Crown chair from Mass Productions, the TR lamp from Menu and the posters on the wall were some of the new additions in my living room (kindly borrowed from Houz.no), the Panthella lamp from Louis Poulsen (kindly borrowed from Elisabeth Heier), all easily blended in with all the furniture I already owned, the Core table lamp from New Works (I got mine from Home Made Stories shop ) the beautiful plinth marble table from Menu, Hay slit table in mirror, Pallo vases in various sizes from Skrufs glasbruk, Sofa from Bolia, marble low table from Erik Jørgensen EJ 64 , details from Frama and Byredo. Tip : Color coordinating works wonders for details, the blue wall matches the Core table lamp from New Works (its granite blue), but also the blue speaker from Urban Ears ( on the floor on a stack of books).

The kitchen was also painted but this time I went for a more colorful look using LADY Raw Canvas 10961, Pure color supermatt. If there is anything I would have added ( and I still may if the new owners allow) would be to also paint the windows and the door the same color for a more uniform and modern look. However even with white details it works quite beautiful I think , and since the floors are grey I got to keep and color match even the And Tradition In Between table and chairs I already had. Small details also work great however in this setting, glass and brass bottle from Menu, salt bowl and brass spoon from Ferm Living (also terracotta fruit bowl and brass candleholder from Ferm Living on the table).

And while I still live in this apartment until July, I will fully enjoy the balcony ( not sure if the next apartment will have one), if you want to get the look then most of pots for flowers and trays are from Skagerak , the chairs and coffee table is from Fermob , the bench from Domo design, cups from Kinto and water can from Menu. If there are any details you would like me to specify, please leave a comment below and I ll get back to you as soon as possible!

Things I love to love

March 1, 2018

Todays post is really on a whim, I was planning to post something completely different but my mood dictated what to do instead. It all started because the sun was casting beautiful rays in the bedroom today (as seen below), and really, this is probably one of my favorite things. It can’t be purchased of course, but to be able to sit and work in a calm environment while watching the sun go down, that on its own must be priceless. However it is the first of March and so, another month has gone by, albeit a small one. My life is certainly not a bliss but I choose to focus on the good things that happen, things that inspire me, things I love to love really (as the title of this post suggests). This means everything that makes me happy one way or another!

Starting with the photo above, there are many things really that made me happy. I haven’t shared that I bought a new table, and it was one on my wishlist for a long long time, the Menu white marble plinth low table!  You can’t see it very well in this photo, I promise I will make a separate post about it, but suffice it to say I am in love with it. Another favorite of mine, the nude leather case/planner set that is on the table, from Kartotek in collaboration with Danish Ham and Lerche. This one came as a surprise too, I found it in my mailbox but I couldn’t be happier when I opened it. For me it is the perfect gift because I cannot keep a digital calendar, I have to have everything written down by my own hand. It is not being old fashioned, I go digital for almost everything else in my life, but I need to write down what I need to do, save dates, or else I cannot keep track of it. This planner set it perfect because not only does it come with its own set inside but it fits my old planner, receipts, notes, and just about everything I need, all tucked in the same place. And it looks so beautiful too! It makes me want to be even more organized than before. Win win!

The photo above includes quite a few favorites, though none take too much space in the photo. This is mostly because what I focused on here was the rays of sun as they fell in the room during afternoon earlier today. Sneak peaks however include :  the glass tray as seen on the windowsill ( from Menu )  and the Pepe white marble mirror below ( also from Menu ). Also as seen both above ( on the desk) and on the bed ( below ), some goodies from Aiayu,  the Helen pouch color Albicant and the Hollie bedspread color Air. When it comes to the tray, I love arranging my things on trays generally, or on a magazine or anything that they can be put together in a way, so having a few trays makes sense to me and also makes me happy for a weird reason. I have been using a lot an old white table mirror ( as can be seen here, first and second photo ) so it was about time for a change. I am not throwing away the old one however as I love it too much, I will be moving it to the summer house instead! The best part of the new one is that it is actually double sided with one side being enlarged viewing, so it fits really great for when I put make up on ( I used to bring out a small one from the bathroom). The Aiayu things are really self explanatory, I love the throw, it is so soft to snuggle with, and the pouch is perfect for everyday make up storage!

Special mention to the Bang Olufsen E8 special edition earphones as seen in the last two photos. They will be soon out for sale in limited quantities if you want them in all white and they do come in a special charging leather box as well. I already have a pair of H9 wireless headphones so I wasn’t sure I was going to like these wireless earphones, but they won me over easily. They don’t just look good, they feel good and the sound quality is really great! I have heard there are some connectivity issues but I haven’t had any trouble so far and I have been using them for more than two weeks secretly 😉

Mondays

January 29, 2018

I have been under the weather the last few days and with so many things to be finished before Stockholm design week I can feel the pressure of time already. If I haven’t answered your email yet please forgive me, I am trying to prioritize but work almost always gets first in line. Being the stylist, photographer, editor and PR manager for my company all in one person can be quite overwhelming somedays. If I haven’t mentioned it I really should hire an assistant, and the days that I have little time I feel it the most. I do realize that I cannot do everything however, taking some hours off during the day the best medicine. Lighting a candle ( new favorite from Diptyque the 34 collection which was created for their 50th anniversary ), is one of my go to relaxing methods, there will always be candles lit in my apartment regardless of the season. In fact one of my everyday routines is right after I get up from bed to go around and light some key position candles in the apartment , mainly bedroom windowsill , kitchen table and bathroom. Do try it, not just for the feeling of hygge, but you will immediately notice your mood change.

I have a very busy week ahead along with preparation for Stockholm design fair, if any of your attend and recognize me do say hi!

Sundays Tip : Ellos Vintage

January 28, 2018

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Ellos.

Just recently I found out Ellos has a vintage selection( the whole collection can be found at Ellos Vintage ) , all in affordable prices while each one is unique . Design is important, especially in vintage, which is why I am very happy to see Ellos collection is very carefully curated. There is something very familiar in vintage items, something close to the heart, and they never fail to fit in any style. A vintage vase can be placed on the most contemporary and minimalistic space, and it will still look right in place, bringing character and poise. Every item in

Ellos Vintage selection is one of a kind ,the vase you see in the photos is glazed ceramic

from Haldensleben in Germany, and it cost 200 NOK. The collection is not big but items are being added regularly, I will be definitely be keeping an eye on it for rare finds like my new beautiful vase.
