Ferm Living and Red Cross

October 31, 2018

Rarely I have the opportunity to post about a cause, and so today, this post is very special. Ferm Living has designed a high quality blanket, the Enfold blanket, to support the Danish Red Cross in their work of helping vulnerable families get through the winter.Ferm Living’s proceeds from the sales of this exclusive blanket , are donated to the Danish Red Cross in full who are then able to provide aid and care in parts of the world where living conditions are much harsher than what we are used to.

Enfold is made out of 100% wool melange , in a blue tone , with fringes on 2 sides. I will be getting one myself and I will get back to you on how it feels. I dont need another blanket, probably you dont either, and if you already support the Red Cross or any other charity you feel is helping out then you are already doing something to help out. But regardless of if you are or not, this is a good opportunity to give, without thinking too much about how, only why. It is getting cold out there, and everybody should at least have a blanket, and this is what the message of this post is about.

The money is donated to the general funds of Red Cross. The donation allows them to act if disaster strikes but also supports their preventive and development efforts.

Ferm Living Home | AW 18

September 4, 2018

Last year I was lucky to be one of the first people (if not the first) to visit the new Home of Ferm Living, and while this year I haven’t been able to visit it yet, the press photos are so beautiful that I couldn’t not share. Like many showrooms, the Ferm Living Home changes its face every season, and like last season, it is colorful, playful yet at the same time exudes elegance while it stays on trend. Ferm Living has continued to impress me through the last few years with their direction and how the brand has gone from ordinary to extraordinary. Furniture, accessories, almost everything in their catalogue I can see in my own contemporary home and in fact you will see quite a few Ferm Living items in my own apartment. Considering how picky I am when it comes to decoration , how few things I actually own in reality and how many of those items I rotate through the season, it is a nod towards how much I appreciate Ferm Living design lately. Feel free to scroll below for some of my favorite photos from their new catalogue, sectioned in Bedroom, Living Room,Office, Bathroom, Kitchen. You can find the online catalogue here and of course you can shop the looks on their online store.

Identity : Jotun Lady new Color chart 2019

August 28, 2018

 Colors : Devine 12083 and Tildøs 1024

This morning I attended the Jotun Lady press presentation that unveiled this years color card, one that is definitely going to inspire and influence 2019 color trends.

‘Home is the living story of who we are, told in the objects and colours we fill it with’

– Lisbeth Larsen, Global Colour Manager at Jotun

Home is an expression of identity, is one of the few places we can authentically express who we are, it is an anchor in our everyday lives. These observations are the founding ideas behind the Jotun Colour Card 2019. This year’s card – titled Identity – explores the colours that characterise and reflect modern urban lifestyles around the world.

To illustrate how different colour combinations can be employed to communicate different identities, Jotun has identified three distinct, globally resonant themes, each describing an individual mindset and way of living – the story of an individual, told in colour. However, you will find some colors are in two Identities, or even all 3. This is because the core of all Identities is the same, our home, calm, refined and raw at the same time. I will be choosing photos to demonstrate colors best suited for every Identity below, even though they might not quite strictly belong there.

CALM

Soft, light neutrals and warm, subtle contrasts.

The calm identity prizes meaning above quantity in the things they surround themselves with, revelling in the almost-Nordic simplicity of their space. Their home is a refuge of clean, easy living and a place of peace, a Zen sanctuary given character through a handful of choice artworks or objects that carry deep personal significance. Nothing is superfluous; there is no room for clutter. Everything has a place and a reason to be in it.  The image above belongs to the Calm identity. Some more examples follow below.

Color : Comfort Grey 12078

Color : Devine 12083

Color : Soothing Beige 12075 (Minerals)

Color : Varmgrå/ Soft Grey 0394

Color :  Space 10678

REFINED

Sense-stimulating greens and yellows, given depth with different textures

The refined identity is that of the modern-day curator: discerning, considered and interested in intriguing juxtapositions. Their home is dotted with a seemingly eclectic collection of art and artefacts, vintage pieces and contemporary design, all carefully positioned in order to acquire new meanings in their relationship with one another. This home is a personal gallery – a dialogue between colour and object whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Examples follow below.

Color :  Modern Beige 12076

Refined Color :  Treasure 7628 combined with Calm Color : Comfort grey 12078

Color :  Refresh 7627

Color :  Northern Mystic 7613

RAW

Sense-stimulating greens and yellows, given depth with different textures.

Color :  Senses 2024 (Minerals)

Color :  Peachy 12074

While at the press presentation today I managed to shoot a few photos, the colors are not perfectly represented due to lighting conditions, but I thought you might like a peak inside Jotun Lady´s presentation for this years color card!

I hope you will also be inspired by this years colors, and that you will use them to transform your home in a place where you can authentically express who you are!

News from Menu

August 24, 2018

The season is starting with news outpouring from everywhere, and there is so much inspiration, the perfect start for a promising fall. Menu did not disappoint, in fact it is the first I share for a reason. Not only some of the items have been on my wishlist from private viewings during visits at their premises, but the photography itself is spectacular. Scroll below for more of the news and stunning lifestyle photos!

One of my most anticipated items from the collection, the Androgyne table by Danielle Siggerud. I had first spotted it as a prototype in her home ( you can see the post here, I m sure you can spot it as well in the living room), then I had the pleasure of seeing myself it in display in its current form during 3 days of design at Menu HQ. This one is really high in my wishlist.

There are news when it comes to some of the older items, the Carry lamp got a new brass look, while the Pepe mirrors now also come as a wall version! I would love to see an even bigger version of the Pepe mirror, while the standard size is great for when you want to take a closer look, why not also include a version that can be used in the hallway for a last look before you exit the door? The logistics can be difficult of course, Pepe mirror is already quite heavy so I can imagine a larger version would be significantly more difficult to handle. However I am not giving up on the idea!

New covers, colors, fabrics and sizes are added as options for the Afteroom stool, and I will be one of the first to say they are a welcomed addition to the family.

Another much anticipated design, the Knitting Chair, created by architect and furniture designer Ib Kofod-Larsen in 1951. It was put into production – but only as a limited edition. Today it is being relaunched by Menu, as part of their Modernism Reimagined initiative and their focus on creating for the future while respecting the past.

Last but not least the Harbour chair, originally created by Norm Architects for MENU Space, MENU’s new creative destination in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn Harbour, now finally available to everyone. The Harbour Chair can be left bare or upholstered, with four elegant base styles in solid oak or powdercoated steel inviting further personalisation.
