My home office :Collective Album

August 2, 2014

I will be the first to admit  I realize that I change my office a lot without actually doing anything substantial to it. I was going through photos and I see that little has changed over the last year other than details and the biggest change might be the chairs I keep switching around. While on itself this is not a bad thing looking back collectively I think it’s time for a bigger change and while I am not ready to start yet something tells me it’s not going to take a long time before I do 😉

I love the details however, I think when we surround ourselves with things that we like then our whole mood changes for the better and what a better way to get to work than with a great mood for it!
If I have any advice is don’t be afraid of change but you can always start small before you go big. As I already prefaced I love changing my home office decor almost weekly by adding small details and removing things I have grown tired of .

I prefer clean simple surfaces which is why I made the desk from scratch in order to fit all my office things perfectly. I use the space with my boyfriend so we sit side by side each in their own space since the desk is so long. When it comes to office accessories and decorations I also prefer to keep it simple since the desk fills up during the day while being used far too much. I love a simple mood board on the wall when I feel like it but I also remove it when I don’t. Simple pendant lights make up for most of the lighting from above while a constant wire rubber tree is serving as the perfect spot to hang our headphones and such.

I hope that looking through the photos you will be inspired also to start making changes to your home office and if you are not ready for radical ones as you can see by scrolling below even small ones will make a lot of difference 🙂

Kayaking, ByLassen and Muuto love.

July 29, 2014

Summer time is amazing. Especially in Norway this year high temperatures have turned what would be a normal summer to a tropical paradise. I find it impossible to stay at home and I have to admit I didn’t expect this country to seem more beautiful, but it has outdone itself. My favorite activity is kayaking through the fjord then resting at tiny islands for lunch and a music break.

While I enjoy the summer my house is at it’s cleanest and neatest. It’s an absolute joy to take photos this way and some new purchases are going a long way in refreshing my everyday home views.

I finally got myself a ByLassen Kubus 4 candleholder and a Muuto Silent Vase. Just arranging white lilies in this beautiful vase makes my living room feel so summery!

I will try to update the blog as often as I can but this Norwegian Summer is stealing my heart 🙂

I hope everyone is having a great summer!

My Scandinavian Home Office + New Book Art

July 23, 2014

One of the things I missed dearly while in Greece was my home office.

It is not just because of its practical value (having all of your things exactly where you want them, your comfy chairs etc) but also because of its design value.

While I am more than happy some times to take my laptop and work from the couch, most of the times I prefer my comfy chair and my home office set up. I work a lot of hours on my computer so I desperately need to feel comfortable. It is very important to me that visually my space is as pleasant as I can make it as is directly translates into feeling better for longer periods of time while I am designing. I want where I work to be a place where I look forward being, not feeling indifferent towards it or worse trying to avoid it.

Trust me if your work space feels like a place you want to be, not only you will look forward to working but most importantly it might not feel as work at all. So get your inspiration going and start even today designing and re imagining where you spend so many hours of your day.

I am constantly drawing inspiration from my pinterest board HOME▲OFFICE and I keep adding daily to it so feel free to follow!

One of the things I have been wanting to do for the longest of time was create my own book art.

I started simple by just folding together all the pages of an old book and cut the exterior. I was surprised at how easy it was, it barely took me half an hour and I love how it looks on my office desk. I am looking forward of using it as a way to store various papers that usually don’t have a specific place on my desk and I hate seeing them just lying around. I won’t provide a tutorial as it’s fairly easy to do it (just fold each page into a triangle and keep repeating) but I can tell you there are some very complicated patters out there for those that want to try some.
