Peek Inside a Sophisticated Copenhagen Townhouse by Talented Norwegian Architect Danielle Siggerud

August 3, 2018

Lately I have been following the works of the talented Norwegian Architect Danielle Siggerud, starting from her house in Copenhagen Denmark. As per her own words, the house in located on Holmen, a water-bound neighborhood in Copenhagen, occupying the former grounds of the Royal Naval Base and Dockyards. The project reflects strong architectural sensitivity, making use of both modern and existing elements. Essence, abstraction and purity have been the leitmotif of this home. A limited array of colors and the combination of rough beams with the smooth surface of natural stone creates a rugged but elegant atmosphere. With tactility of the materials and through careful detailing, we formed a comfortable house that encapsulated the essence of living. The rigor of the design in combination with the sensual language, respecting the existing architectural elements, has been the key to the success of this architecture.

What I personally love is the overall feeling one gets just by looking at this  beautiful house, the colors and the surfaces are soft but quite characteristic, while the choice of furniture and materials is an ode to comfortable yet stylish contemporary living. Scroll below to see some snippets of the beautiful MD residence, I would move in a minutes notice. And if you are wondering if this is how the house probably looks? In my experience, if you like it this way, you keep it this way, maybe theres a magazine extra here and there, maybe there is a cup of coffee somewhere, generally this is not hard to maintain 😉
