Winter feel and how to achieve it

November 29, 2017

Even though it is not even December yet, for the first time in quite a few years I am already done with shopping for Christmas presents. This mostly occurred because I happened to be in Copenhagen and Stockholm last week and the shops I needed where right there, so instead of ordering them and paying even more in shipping and importing (none exist in Norway unfortunately), I decided to shop early. This probably got me into an early Christmas mood as well, but I chose to call it “Winter mood” really, as most of my Christmas decorations can , and are, used before and after the holidays as well. In reality I don’t overly decorate for the season, I find that key touches are better than a full spread of lights, and it really does all come down to the details. For this year I decided to go with brass and natural colors, some pale yellows and pale greens, I don’t think I will include any red or bright greens though. If you want to achieve a winter feel but not go overly festive yet, just do as I did, add some brass details, a candle holder or two, a tree, maybe a star ornament (all my brass details are from Ferm Living Christmas collection), some flowers suitable for the season in clear or pale colored vases. The flowers you see in my Marimekko  vases (also from their Christmas collection) are I think perfect for this purpose, they seem as if they are pine cones but on stems, while the small bouquets are a cluster of even smaller versions of pine needles and cones. You can even add some Christmas lights if you feel like it, but try to find some that are delicate and don’t emit too much light, this way they will look more like a light installation rather than glittery festive lights on a window!

Miss Clara and B&O play

November 25, 2017

Expenses and hotel accommodation was provided by B&O play.

I just came back from my Copenhagen/Stockholm short 3 days trip ( you can read more about the Copenhagen part here and here), if are not following me on Instagram, you missed on some amazing stories, from incredible sunrises in Copenhagen, to the coolest party in Stockholm ( and the reason I travelled there). However, I have been trying to update my twitter with photos from my stories, if you completely missed out, you can find some of them (not all however) here

We left Copenhagen on Thursday morning,to land in Stockholm, and a short tesla taxi ride later, arrived at Miss Clara hotel. It was my first time staying at Miss Clara, something that has been on my wishlist for a while now. The design of the boutique Nobis hotel is so beautiful, I was only sorry I was only to stay there for a night. A few hours later, we arrived at Alma ( a five-story structure with a mindful balance of work and social spaces ) for one of the coolest dinner parties, hosted by B&O play and Bang Olufsen. In company of friends and colleagues, we were presented with the new B&O play M3 speaker ( I talked about it a few days ago in the post Cecile Mantz for B&O play ), a truly amazing speaker, that packs as powerful design as it sounds.

The restaurant, overseen by chefs Martin Brag and Leo Frodell serves meals exclusively for members and their guests, and on Thursday night we were treated with an amazing menu. At the end we were also surprised to find out we were going to be taking home with us an M3, that I put immediately to use in my room at Miss Clara. I travelled to Stockholm with my

B&O play

H9 headphones, but I love  having sound coming from a speaker in my room, I unpacked the M3 and made myself truly at home until the next day before checking out.

You can see some photos today of the room and the M3 and H9, I liked either having the M3 beside the bed or on the big windowsill where I spend quite some time sitting on the cushion with a blanket and my headphones before the party, working on my Macbook with some tea on the side. Don’t travel with headphones, but if you can, take a speaker with you as well!

Oh, did I mention Miss Clara bathrooms are equipped with Byredo toiletries?

Le Labo in Copenhagen

November 23, 2017

I am already in Stockholm today( do check my instagram stories for my whereabouts, plus the most amazing sunrise this morning e fr) , but I wanted to share some of the photos I took yesterday while out shopping at the new Le Labo perfume boutique, that opened in Copenhagen just a few days ago. If you don’t know about Le Labo, you are missing out in one of the best fragrances in my opinion, Santal 33. The niche perfumes will always be freshly blended for you on site from the expert stuff, the bottle will read your name and location of the store it was created, and depending on the style, you can even have it engraved. The numbers next to the name of every fine fragrance signify the number of ingredients, my favorite Santal 33 is blended with exactly 33 unique parts. Recently they added to their perfumes and candles a whole range of face and body care and mens grooming line, make sure to try the Hinoki variant, it is one of my favorites for shower gel or shower oil. Do try them if you have the opportunity, and if you are in Copenhagen or travelling there soon, you can visit the new Le Labo boutique at Store Strandstræde.
