Nordmann fir : Christmas tree tradition that will grow with you

December 23, 2016

It is almost Christmas (how did the year fly by so quickly?) and our tree is ready in its little corner. I decorated a cedar tree for early  Christmas ( more photos here ) , and I really liked the result for an understated holiday decoration, however we also bought a Nordmann fir of about 1m tall as our main Christmas tree. The idea is that it will grow with us as years go by and be our tree for all future holidays. I think it is a great idea for couples that are looking at creating their own Christmas traditions, and for us this is the one!  After all it is used to cold and snow so after New years we can leave it outside to decorate our veranda until next time. In order to make it look a little taller we put it on top of the low cupboards in the corner and surrounded it with gifts and minimal christmas decorations. A handmade felt Santa, some walnuts and a brass wreath all create a nice festive but also minimal mood, perfect for this year. Our tree ornaments are porcelain balls and bells in white, from Lyngby Porcelain, brass and porcelain ornaments from Stelton and some glass balls I found at Illums Bolighus (I cannot remember the producer but I am sure if you stop by Illums you can find them still!). With this and that we are almost ready for another Christmas Eve tomorrow, I wish Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone!
