A few days ago we finally crossed the fjord for some much needed shopping.
I found some lovely inexpensive wooden boxes and copper bowls that I immediately placed on my desk after unpacking them. It’s amazing how just a few new things can renew your working space ( and any space for that matter ) so why not give it a try?

Quick Tips on how to Keep your Office Space Fresh

1. Change your pencil cases and small containers often.
While you might have a favorite mug you love to use as a pencil case, feel free to replace it for a few weeks with a wooden container, a vase or even a paper box. I chose to replace my white vases that usually hold my pens and pencils with wooden containers that fit into each other. This way I created a stationary where I can charge my phone (see photo below), drop anything from your extra charger even your lip balm. I also got myself a little copper container that fits perfectly on the base of my monitor for all those little things you need at an arms length such as your usb or clips.
2. Add a shelf or a box, wall candle holders, hang inspiration photos or even use washi tape to hang your current favorites.
In other words, you don’t need to make a gallery in front of your office, a simple inspiration wall will go a long way. I haven’t added a shelf myself although I might in the future. For now everytime I feel I need a change I will hang my current favorites to look while I am working. Need ideas on what to add to your office wall?
– Cut your favorite pages from your magazines
– Small posters from new designer products as you see in the photos above and below
– A color card with your favorite color
– Cut your Channel/ Acne/ any designer bag you have in your drawer and create a poster with it
I could go on but I think I got my point through. Anything that you are currently obsessing (in a nice way) you should just create a display with it and enjoy the creativity that it will bring you.
3. Change your light source.
Do you use a table lamp for extra office light? I know you love it but for a while exchange it with that floor lamp you also love that is beside that armchair you usually sit to read a book. This way you will create extra space on your office desk and change your favorite reading corner as well. A little table beside your armchair will provide with a great space to put that table lamp as well as an extra space for your phone and your drink while you read. I have gone from using happy lights in a vase to using candles to placing table lamps as seen in this post.
4. Change your table top decoration
This shouldn’t come as a surprise at all. A small vase with flowers or a new magazine rack will make your desk feel so different even if its of course the same. Think outside the box and use anything that can hold water as a vase for a quick and clever way of having on display some of those beautiful spring wildflowers or blooms!
5. Change the wall color.
Painting a single wall is the easiest way to change how a room looks. The best part of it is that you can easily change it back a few weeks later if you feel you need to go back to your old familiar environment. Try some different hues for this spring! A bright teal or a vibrant coral will rejuvenate your space in a flash! If you are not a fan of such colorful walls there are so many different colors you can choose and a light grey will always complement any space!
6. Replace your chair.
You can’t replace your chair? Feel free to drape it with a speepskin for winter or a blanket or even light scarf for summer. My space looks and feels so different when I do!
